Infant and Child Therapy 0-5years
Infant and child psychotherapy (counselling) is a specialised form of mental health treatment designed specifically for little ones. It is used to support their emotional development, mental health and any behavioural concerns you may be worried about as their parent/caregiver. Infant and child psychotherapy focuses on providing support and interventions tailored to their unique developmental needs and stages of life. Here at Nurture Geelong we specialise in therapy for little ones aged from 0 - 5 years.
Infant and Child Therapy / counselling can assist with a range of challenges such as:
· Anxiety
· Behavioural / parenting challenges
· Attachment & Bonding
· Trauma
· Developmental challenges
· Big life transitions (i.e – becoming a sibling)
· Relational difficulties (i.e parent child or peers)
Infant and child psychotherapy utilises various approaches to engage the infant, child and family. This includes utilising play allowing them to communicate and express their thoughts and emotions in a natural, non-threatening way. It may also involve dyadic work, involving the parent/caregiver in therapy to strengthen the relationship and or attunement to infant or child’s cues. Please note that parents/caregivers play a vital role in infant and child work and at Nurture we involve someone safe for the infant as we know this promotes the best outcomes.
Here at Nurture Geelong we all have extensive experience working with infants, children and parents. We pride ourselves in providing a relaxed space for families to attend and feel comfortable free from judgement. Our years of training and experience ensures we also use recommended and researched approaches.
